    Academics and Research

NYU Tandon is engineering creative and smart, connected, and secure, sustainable and healthy urban and global communities.

We’re doing so by focusing on fields in vital research areas and the intersections between them.

That focus allows us to build upon our rich history, chart a path to a better future for the entire planet, and prove you can be born anywhere but made right here in Brooklyn.

All of this investment over the past decade is certainly paying off, as we have solidified 7 areas of research excellence here at NYU Tandon.

    • Communications/IT
    • Cybersecurity
    • Data Science/AI/Robotics
    • Emerging Media
    • Health
    • Sustainability
    • Urban

Explore our work, and see how our Unconventional Engineers are plotting the path to a better, more sustainable, more equitable world.

Tandon School of Engineering as well as a lot of its departments and research labs are very much focused on developing sustainable solutions, especially when it comes to urban livelihood. I looked at the research that NYU was doing-- and it spoke to me-- it's cutting edge. It's like, modern. It's like topics that like impact everyone right now. The reason that I picked NYU Tandon was because of all the work in sustainability that is currently happening here, because I wanted to get involved in that, and Tadon was the best place to do it. We have many key areas of research, and this includes Cybersecurity, Data Science, Urban Sustainability, IT communication, and also like Emerging Media. Something really impressive that NYU Tandon has done is in the last just 10 years, they managed to jump up like 30 numbers in ratings. That's something that I definitely factored in during my search, when I was looking for which graduate school to go to. When NYU Tandon accepted me as a student, I was like, I can't believe this-- like one of the best rated universities in the US, and I'm like gonna go study there. What makes you know, the experience at Tandon School of Engineering really unique to me is it is in the center of New York City. And New York City is such a diversity. This provide a very unique opportunity that we can use New York City as a living lab. The thing that makes the academics at NYU Tandon special is that you can kind of carve your own path. So if you're interested in doing kind of more entrepreneurial work ,and kind of diving into that area, you can do that. If you want to kind of go into research, you can do that. So I think that's one of the coolest things about coming to NYU Tandon.
