    Labs

We are home to dozens of research labs and groups, where engineering researchers are bridging disciplines in state-of-the-art facilities.

Much of our research is multi-disciplinary.

Our faculty and students partner with colleagues in other departments in the School of Engineering, as well as other NYU Schools.

Everyone at Tandon, from our undergraduates to the faculty at our esteemed academic research centers, is focused on discovering practical solutions to the most pressing challenges facing society and on addressing tomorrow’s problems today.

Every department has its own set of labs, whether its computational and experimental. It's really wonderful, especially for undergraduate students, because they get to take what they're learning in the classroom, and apply it in a real setting where there are stakes. So our student's here-- They have access to, you know, multiple labs that include makerspace. That's a great space for students to gather together. But also, that's a great space, which we can make like all these 3D models by themselves. My favorite part of working in the lab is the fact that I can be kind of inventive with the different experiments that I do. While I do get a lot of feedback and direction from the professors that I work with. Ultimately, I get to do what I think is best. C2SMART, as far as mandate, is mobility and transportation in urban environments and in smart cities. And this is the most urban environment that exists in the country. So there's no better place for it the research to happen, and to collect data and measure the results of research implementations than in New York City. At our center, at C2SMART, we work directly with the School of Planning and Public Service, School of Law, the Stern School of Business, and also our other university partners from around the country. Invention, innovation and Entrepreneurship are key to both academics and research at NYU Tandon. Students here have an amazing opportunity to apply what they're learning in classes but also actively working on in their research labs, to the real world. We have so many examples of students going out and building their own companies based on the inventions that they've created in labs. One of the recent research we're doing is to testing a smartphone app to help with people with visual disabilities. We are getting in touch with a real project. We know this is something that people with visual disability they are looking for, and we are trying to find a solution for them. And I think all kinds of these different types of project and different subject that we're working with together really makes me fascinated and excited.
