NYU Tandon School of Engineering prepares students for their careers in a variety of ways. We put students in touch with employers to give them the opportunity to network and to learn about opportunities, in terms of internships and positions, they might be interested in. This past summer, I was an intern at the National Energy Technology Laboratory. There, I worked on a research project where we looked at thermal energy storage, and that was really cool. And I think one of the reasons that I was able to get such a great and fun internship was because of all the preparation that I've had previously. There's a lot of ways in which Career Services has helped me. I think initially, I looked through all the resources that they have in order to like build up my resume, and make sure that it was, you know, good and hefty. I came from Argentina, I didn't know how things work here. So Career Services helped me a lot to understand what were like competitive salaries in the market, and to see what the offers were, and what was the best thing for me-- and also like to communicate that to my employers. The summer Career Academy for both graduate and undergraduate students is a series of presentations that our office puts on for students to provide them with a taste of what best practices in their careers might look like. There are going to be employers looking to hire them for internships for the next summer or even for positions. So we want to give them advice to help make them more career ready even from the very beginning of their Tandon journey.
